State Police Respond to Route 90 Eastbound Fatal Crash in the Connector Tunnel

On July 10, 2006 at about 11:01 p.m., State Police from the Ted Williams Tunnel Barracks responded to a one-car crash on Route 90 East, in the Connector Tunnel, in Boston.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Jane Kennedy indicates that 46 year-old Angel Delvalle of Jamaica Plain was traveling on Route 90 East in the Connector Tunnel in a 1991 Buick sedan when the Buick was struck by a large piece of the tunnel ceiling.  The vehicle was pushed up against the left barrier.

Delvalle was transported by ambulance to Mass. General Hospital with minor injuries.  The passenger, 38 year-old Milena M. Delvalle of Jamaica Plain was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The cause of this incident remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Crime Scene Services, Boston Fire Department, Boston EMS, Mass. Turnpike Authority and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

No other information is available at this time for public disclosure.

New Hampshire.com Terms

Today's Terms

Class action

Definition:
When different persons combine their lawsuits because the facts and the defendant are so similar. This is designed to save Court time and to allow one judge to hear all the cases at the same time and to make one decision binding on all parties. Class action lawsuits would typically occur after a plane or train accident where all the victims would sue the transport company together in a class action suit. Recent class actions have occurred against tobacco companies.

Comparative negligence

Definition:
A principle of tort law which looks at the negligence of the victim and which may lead to either a reduction of the award against the defendant, proportionate to the contribution of the victim's negligence, or which may even prevent an award altogether if the victim's negligence, when compared with the defendant, is equal to or greater in terms or contributing to the situation which caused the injury or damage.

Defendant

Definition:
The party being sued or the party accused of committing the offense charged.
